Yves Saint Laurent is inspired by Morocco.

Located 3.5 km from our restaurant Foundouk, we invite you to explore the exceptional collection of a renowned designer of the high fashion, in love with Morocco: Yves Saint Laurent, a stylist who knew how to mark his time.
This new edifice, inspired by the typical Moroccan ochre tones, has been open since 19 October 2017.
In 1966, this great couturier discovered Marrakech. Admiring the local culture, he decided to buy a house and to stay there regularly to draw his sketches before each collection. Yves Saint Laurent is inspired and fascinated by Marrakech and the snow-covered peaks of the Atlas. Pierre Bergé, philanthropist and partner of the creator, created a museum for him. This building reveals rare pieces: the museum, with an area of 4000 m², exhibits 5,000 clothes, 15,000 high-fashion accessories, as well as tens of thousands of drawings.

A homage to women and the art of the 20th century.

Fifteen years after Yves Saint Laurent's last fashion show (which passed away in 2008), a unique heritage of forty years of career reminds us of the history of women's liberation through clothing. At the time, Caban, trench coat, tuxedo, trouser suit, safari jacket entered the wardrobes of the ladies of the world. Yves Saint Laurent also honors 20th century painting (with the "Mondrian", "Picasso" or "Andy Wharol" dresses), literature, theatre and fashion. This museum offers to see the work of one of the greatest artists of his time.

An architecture in the spirit of the artist.

Near the Majorelle Garden, the museum includes a permanent exhibition space of 400 m², presenting the work of Yves Saint Laurent. The museum also houses a temporary exhibition room, a research library with over 5,000 books, a 140-seat auditorium, a bookshop and a café with terrace. The French architectural firm Studio KO was inspired by the designer's curves and clean cuts, recalling the wefts of the fabrics.

This Museum is a real delight, a journey to the heart of his inspirations to visit, to discover, to contemplate.
